About New Haven Funerals
Arranging A Funeral
We can help arrange;
The Funeral Director
The function of a funeral director is to guide a family with ease and dignity through the difficult time of losing a loved one. All funeral directors essentially perform the same tasks, however, with the takeovers of small companies by larger monopolies, much of the personalised caring for the bereaved has been lost in volume sales.
The all Australian owned Newhaven Funerals directors and operations people have been carefully chosen for their consideration, local knowledge, empathetic nature, experience, professionalism and their ability to carry out their goal of providing a total high quality funeral service at a reasonable cost.
We provide a Memorial Book and take responsibility to encourage mourners to enter their condolences. This will enable you, at any time after the funeral to immediately recall exactly who was in attendance. You may be assured that each person in attendance will receive a thank you card from the family, personalised by a scanned image of the person who has passed away.
The Widow or Widower will receive a corsage from our company to wear at the funeral if preference for flowers has been expressed. Floral tributes excluding the casket spray, which are not required, will be sent to a nursing home or church at the conclusion of the Funeral Service.
Please be assured our utmost care, compassion and understanding to you and your family during this difficult time.
The caring does not end with the payment of the account. Newhaven professionals keep in touch until they are sure the people close to the deceased have fully recovered from the trauma. They do this in many ways such as a fully qualified grief counsellor and the maintenance of a comprehensive Grief Library.
For this reason we are able to recommend Newhaven Funerals to you as a family owned and operated funeral company that you can trust entirely to carry out your plans.
Newhaven Funerals is exclusively owned by the Connolly Family and conducts professional funeral services in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Mackay.

All About Cremation
Cremation is the preferred method of farewell of over 70% of Australians. Newhaven owned crematoriums are the most modern facilities of their kind in Queensland. They provide air conditioned chapels, catering facilities and immaculately maintained memorial gardens. Views of trees and natural Australian bushland surround.
State of the art equipment is selected to ensure low environmental impact. Computer controlled exhaust and secondary chambers means waste gases are treated within the machine and expelled as cool, clean air. Up to the minute mortuary facilities and refrigeration are installed.
All facilities are able to comply with the request to view the process. The cremated remains are processed by a new concept in processing which guarantees the entire remains are returned or memorialised in a large urn.
The crematorium is available to all local funeral directors and to members of the public who wish A Direct Cremation TM for their loved ones.
Every year a Mothers and Fathers Day memorial service is held at 10am.
Plaques are individually cast from bronze providing years of care free maintenance and allowing personalised tributes. Plastic vases are supplied to allow uniform flower placement.
A Direct Cremation TM can be arranged when a formal service is not requested.
Cremated remains are usually available for collection or internment after 48 hours.

All About Burial
The majority of cemeteries today are lawn cemeteries where a small block of concrete is set in the lawn and an inscribed plaque is set on to it. This enables much easier maintenance and usually a much tidier appearance. Cemeteries have a day a week on which they remove all the flowers. This is necessary for the lawns to be cared for correctly. Except for immediately after a burial all flowers must be placed in the prescribed receptacles which are provided. This promotes uniformity and prevents the cemetery owner becoming liable for breakages.
Cemetery plots may be pre-purchased. Our funeral director or local council can arrange that for you or a plot may be purchased "at need". Generally a first interment is made to eight feet and allows a prescribed consolidating time for a second burial at six feet.
An inscription on a plaque may be arranged after the burial.

Ocean Funerals
Newhaven Funerals on the beautiful Gold Coast has increased the level of service and care provided. Company director and Captain Phil Connolly insists the response has been overwhelming. "We have the ability to expose people to an experience that has not previously existed. This experience allows people to detach themselves from the day to day hustle and bustle and contemplate the simplicity of life".

During the memorial service, family members are encouraged to scatter a portion of the ashes into the sea. Individual flower petals mix with the ash and are dispersed with the ocean current.

Fair Lady Funerals
Since the inception of Fair Lady Funerals in the Southern States by a friend and former co-worker of ours two years ago, we have closely studied the relationship between funeral director and bereaved as to whether empathy, communication and the ultimate recovery could be improved by offering an entire funeral service staffed by females. Our study convinced us beyond doubt that a larger proportion of bereaved, given the choice would prefer to be consulted by a compassionate and caring female. We found male to male contact, can in some cases, be additionally stressful.
Many women also feel more comfortable making arrangements with someone of their own gender. They may have had traumatic experiences with the opposite gender and would prefer the empathy and trust of another woman at this time of great upheaval in their lives.
If making arrangements with a lady is preferable please phone...
