I have spent many years among youth rehabilitating from the effects of drug and alcohol addiction. My hopes and expectations for individuals futures have often been lofty, only to some time later be called by police to transport their body to the City Mortuary

The recent death by suicide of a friend's child has prompted my involvement in "Sails Inc", (Sailing Adventures In Life Skills) a Christian organisation aimed at building confidence, self esteem, and in general rebuilding positive outcomes in social skill deficient, at risk youth.

The Life Skills program includes Duke of Edinburgh Award programs along with adventure sailing, kayaking, camping and hands on practical skills. Sails has operated with remarkable success in Auckland (New Zealand) for the past several years, demonstrated by the laudatory testimonials and newspaper articles that have been published. The person responsible for the original development, Captain Russell McClue has been inspired to emulate his actions here on the Gold Coast.
